Hilversum lies is roughly 30km south-east of Amsterdam and about 20km north of Utrecht, This village is often known as the media city as it is the principal centre for mainstream radio and television broadcasting in the Netherlands. Radio Netherlands, heard worldwide via shortwave radio since the 1920s, is based here. Hilversum is also the home of extensive audio and television studios that belong to the national broadcasting production company NOS.
Hilversum is also known for its architecturally important "Raadhuis" or town hall, designed by Willem Dudok.
Hilversum has one public library, two swimming pools, a number of sporting halls and several shopping centers.
The town is home to Dutch open golf championship the KLM Open, the city also has an airfield, a couple of military bases and 3 sea ports.
From the villa there is a 9 hole and 18 hole golf course within 20 minutes driving distance, restaurants, cafes and small shops provide a Dutch taste not to be missed. Breukelen, Maarssen and Loenen are the nearest towns with Amsterdam being 20 minutes away.
